Hello, I am Ting, currently an architecture graduate student at USC. I was born and raised in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I love exploring new things (such as yoga, mountain climbing, motorcycling), learning about different cultures, and observing people's needs, which prompted me to enter the design field.
When I was doing my bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, I was lucky to take some architecture-related courses and eventually found my passion in Architecture. I was fascinated by the complexion and conflict between logical and creative thinking in microscale design. After I graduated from college, I had worked as an architectural designer for approximately two years in the conceptual design team at J.H. Design and Architecture, mainly focusing on private residential and commercial projects. I was also in charge of several facade design projects and applications for building permits.
The more I get involved in the architecture industry, I acknowledge how broad this field is. That’s why I was also trying to open up my horizons about any perspectives regarding architecture by studying further and working as an intern at various firms, such as the interior design studio, the construction company, the architectural firm which actively engages in international architecture competitions. I also completed a graduate certificate in real estate development at USC in 2020.
I am particularly interested in the concept of 15-minute cities where people can enjoy the walkability and convenience of urban lives. Currently, I am preparing for architect licensure and LEED GA Exam. In the long-term goal of my career, I would like to explore more sustainable approaches in dwelling space, which I consider a base and starting point for architecture.
